Dr Rattan completed her specialist training in Gastroenterology at St Vincent’s Hospital in Sydney, one of Australia’s leading teaching hospitals. She then pursued an Advanced Fellowship in Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) and the Endoscopic Management of Barrett’s Oesophagus at Cambridge University Hospital in the United Kingdom — one of the world’s foremost institutions in this field.

Following her fellowship, she worked as a Gastroenterologist with Queensland Health before establishing her specialist practice in Sydney.

Dr Rattan is a Conjoint Lecturer at the University of New South Wales, where she teaches medical students and gastroenterology registrars and contributes to research published in peer-reviewed international journals.

She is currently completing a PhD at UNSW investigating whether common viruses play a role in the development of gastric cancer — a research question with significant implications for how this cancer is understood and screened for.

She holds a Fellowship from the American Gastroenterological Association (AGAF) — a distinction awarded to clinicians who have made a sustained contribution to the field.

Dr Rattan consults comfortably in English, Hindi, Punjabi, Urdu, and Kashmiri. For patients who are more at ease discussing health matters in their first language, this makes a genuine difference to the quality and depth of the consultation.
